VCI devices can be placed or inserted into small and hard to reach places that have metals. They extend the life of various metals by emitting protective compounds that add to corrosion preventive packaging. Daubert Cromwell offers its customers the very best by supplying a range of VCI devices– such as emitters, chips, foam, packets, pouches and powders.
Many times VCI devices are just used to add to already existing corrosion protection by boosting the amount of VCI that is available. In certain situations, a VCI chip or pouch can be added to a standard poly bag in order to produce a level of VCI protection where there was none before.
Thin Daubrite® Disk Emitters
For electronics inside cabinets and enclosures, Daubrite VCI disk emitters offer effective protection against corrosion. These disk emitters are thin enough to be inserted into difficult to reach areas, and they are fit for providing protection against all types of exposed metals in electronics and telecommunications technology.
Daubrite VCI disk emitters come in two different sizes– the Daubrite 5 disk protects 5 cu. ft. of space while the Daubrite 10 disk protects 10 cu. ft. They are only 2-3/16″ round, and the larger ones are up to only a ¼” high. The disks are put in place on flat surfaces (usually the inside of panels or junction boxes) via an adhesive strip on the back that peels off. The disk is then pressed down until it sticks. Almost immediately after installation, the VCI disk begins to emit vapors that work to fight corrosion. It works on copper, steel and zinc and lasts for up to 2 years.
VCI chips are among the most convenient and easy to use of the VCI devices. The Daubert Cromwell chip comes in two different sizes and is coated with corrosion inhibitor formulations. The 30 pt. chipboard comes in 1” x 1” and 2” x 2” pieces, with the 1” x 1” chip protecting 25 cu. in and the 2” x 2” chip protecting 100 cu. in.
Aside from two sizes, there are two different types of these chips; the Nox-Rust® Vapor Wrapper® VCI chip is meant for the corrosion protection of steel, iron, cast iron, and ferrous metals, and the Uniwrap® MPI VCI chip is used for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals (and combinations of different metals).
Daubrite® VCI foam is a great method of protecting equipment and electronics against corrosion because it is non-abrasive and flexible. The foam provides a cushion of active VCI protection for metals like steel, zinc, copper and sets of multi-metals. The standard VCI foam by Daubert Cromwell (Daubrite) comes in blue and is available in sets of 10” x 10” x 1/4” pads with 250 pads per case. However, the foam is also sold in custom sizes and rolls.
Daubrite foam is not affected by humidity, condensation, dirt, or changes in the exterior environment, making it ideal for export shipments. It also leaves no residue to affect the performance of part. The item emerges ready to use immediately, without additional cleaning or rework.
Daubrite 3F VCI foam emitters provide excellent protection against corrosion in small, confined areas. These are 1” x 3” pieces of foam that are individually wrapped and saturated with corrosion inhibiting properties.A Daubrite 3F VCI emitter is not only an effective solution, but also an economical choice. They provide protection against corrosion for a 1 cu. ft. section of space for up to two years.
These emitters are applied to flat surfaces via an adhesive on the back, and they are appropriate for use in circuit breakers, firearm storage spaces, fuse boxes, telephone relays, tool boxes and other storage areas for metal parts.
Daubrite® 1 VCI Emitter Packets
VCI emitter packetsFor multi-metal parts that are going into storage or being shipped, Daubrite 1 VCI emitter packets are a very practical, simple and even economical method of protection for those inside bins, boxes, cabinets, envelopes or bags. Each of the VCI emitter packets protects exposed metals inside an enclosed space of 1 cu. ft.
Application consists of simply placing a packet, left unopened, in the desired container. The packet will create a chemical barrier on the surface of the metals in the container.
Ferro-Form plastic covers are Daubert Cromwell’s award-winning covers for brakes, wheels, engines and other automotive assemblies and parts. Application is easy and does not necessitate any additional tools or hard labor. Installed correctly, Ferro-Form covers provide a snug, physical barrier of VCI protection against moisture dirt and dust particles and other contaminants.
Nox-Rust® VCI Powders
Nox-Rust VCI powders are most effective when used for mothballing, preservation and lay-up purposes. They are also also used for protecting equipment that needs to undergo hydrostatic testing before transport and storage. These VCI powders are silica-free and water-soluble. They reach inside hard to reach cavities and recesses in equipment with inner metal parts, and they provide continuous protection against corrosion and most specifically, rust, inside these enclosed systems. These systems include turbines, heat exchangers, compressors, boilers, pipes, tubes and mining, power and drilling equipment. This protection covers ferrous metals in addition to aluminum.
VCI powders are applied to these systems through a variety of techniques: simple dusting or sprinkling, dissolving in water or a bit more complex but effective, fogging into the space with a low-pressure air hose. Nox-Rust VCI powders do not contain any trace amount of phosphates, heavy metals, nitrites or other potentially harmful substances, and the are environmentally safe.
The different types are:
Nox-Rust VCI Powder 1000SF – A silica-free and water-soluble product meant for ferrous metals that protects equipment during storage, hydrostatic testing or lay up processes.
Nox-Rust VCI Powder 1000SFG – A much finer version of 1000SF that is required in some places that have smaller areas that need to be reached.
Nox-Rust VCI Powder 1010SFG – Similar to the above, it is silica-free, water-soluble and ground into a fine powered. Okay for use on brass, copper and galvanized steel, it can be used dry or wet (in moisture or not).
